Four Cobras Earn End Of The Year Awards
Coker receives three first team nods, with one second team, prep for Conference Carolinas Tournament
HIGH POINT, NC. - Conference Carolinas announced its end of the year award winners for Acrobatics and Tumbling Friday afternoon with Coker earning four awards. Kaylin Francavilla, Kayla Young, and Anaya Eichelberger all earned first team all-conference, as Amber Garcia received a second team nod.
Kaylin Francavilla - Senior | #15 | Lone Tree, CO | First Team
Kaylin competed in 10 heats every meet throughout the season as a main base, mid base, front spot and tumbler. In the compulsory event, she competed in the pyramid and toss heats, which were consistently the highest scoring heats in the event for the Cobras this season. A few highlight scores include two 9.45s and two 9.55s in the pyramid and a 9.6 and a 9.55 in toss. In the acro event, she was also the main base in the heat that consistently scored the highest for the Cobras with high scores of 9.25/10 and 9.45/10 in five element acro. She competed in all three pyramid heats with large roles in inversion and duo pyramid. She was the mid base for the inversion pyramid with high scores of 9.35 and 9.4 out of a 9.7 as well as the backbend straddle pyramid in duo scoring a 9.65 and two 9.5s/10. She also contributed to the two 9.8s and the 9.65 in the open pyramid. In the toss event, Francavilla was the front spot for the salto toss and duo toss with high scores of 8.95, 8.7 and 8.65 out of 9.4. Moving into tumbling, she was a consistent member of the quad tumbling group scoring as high as a 6.95/8. In the team event, Francavilla also played a huge role competing in the running tumbling section, both toss sections, both pyramid sections, and both acro sections. She competed both a straddle backbend pyramid and a pike backbend pyramid throughout the event, as well as basing a full toss which helped increase difficulty to ultimately give the Cobras close to a 2 point start value increase halfway through the season. Her contributions helped the team to scores as high as an 87.66 in this event.
Kayla Young - Senior | #20 | Staten Island, NY | First Team
Kayla competed in 13 heats across all six events as a main base, mid base, front spot and tumbler. A few of her highlight scores include a 9.6 in compulsory toss, two 9.5s in compulsory pyramid, a 9.4/10 in seven element acro, a 9.65 in duo pyramid, a pair of 9.8s in open pyramid, and a 9.5 in open toss. In the team event, she competed in the synchronized acro section, both pyramid sections, both toss sections and the running tumbling section.
Anaya Eichelberger - Freshman | #2 | Lexington, SC | First Team
Anaya competed in 11 heats across five events for the Cobras throughout the season. She competed as a main base, backspot, pyramid placer, backbend and catcher throughout the meet working with seven different tops. In the compulsory event, she helped the Cobras to impressive scores of a 9.2 in compulsory acro, multiple 9.5s in compulsory pyramid and both a 9.55 and a 9.6 in compulsory toss. She also competed in both six and seven element acro and all three pyramid heats as a key player for the team. Her highlight scores in these heats include a 9.1 in six element, a 9.4 in seven element, a 9.4/9.7 in inversion pyramid, a 9.5 in duo pyramid and multiple 9.8s in open pyramid. She also back spotted two toss heats scoring as high as an 8.95/9.4 in the salto toss and an 8.65/9.4 in duo toss. Moving into the team event, Eichelberger played a huge role competing in both toss sections, both pyramid sections and the synchronized acro section. She competed as a backbend in both pyramid sections for the second half of the season to help decrease deductions in the fourth pyramid. She also backspotted a full toss for the synchronized toss section which helped the Cobras to increase the start value by close to 2 points for the second half of the season. This increase gave Coker a start value advantage over all teams in the second half of the season to pull out important wins. The highest score for the team event this season was an impressive 87.66.
Amber Garcia - Senior | #10 | Clover, SC. | Second Team
Amber competed in six heats and team event as a top, mid base and tumbler this season. A few of her high scores include a 9.6 in compulsory toss as a top, a 9.65 in duo pyramid as a mid base, and a 6.95/8 in quad tumbling. In the team event, she competed in the synchronized acro section, synchronized pyramid section, synchronized toss section, standing tumbling section and running tumbling section.
