Coker Falls to No. 1 Wingate in Conference Carolinas Semifinals
FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Coker University acrobatics & tumbling team saw its postseason run come to a close on Saturday afternoon, falling to top-seeded Wingate, 256.960–247.345, in the Conference Carolinas Championship Semifinals hosted by Emmanuel University.
The Cobras opened the meet with a 35.55 in the Compulsory event, highlighted by a 9.68 in the Pyramid heat. Wingate posted a 37.55 to take an early lead.
In the Acro event, Coker totaled 26.63, led by a strong 9.23 in the Heat 3 (7 Element). Wingate extended its advantage with a 28.00 in the event.
Coker remained competitive in the Pyramid event, recording a 28.83 behind consistent scores across all three heats, including a 9.63 in the Open heat.
The Cobras continued to battle in the Toss event, posting a 26.00 and earning a 9.35 in the Open heat. Wingate narrowly claimed the event with a 26.93.
In Tumbling, Coker totaled 50.825, highlighted by a 9.625 in the Aerial pass and a 9.725 in the Open pass. Wingate maintained control with a 52.125.
Coker closed out the meet with a 79.52 in the Team Event to finish with a final score of 247.345.
Senior Recognition
Saturday's meet marked the final collegiate performance for Coker's senior class, who have played a pivotal role in the growth and success of the program. Their leadership, dedication, and impact on and off the mat have helped elevate the Cobras throughout their careers and leave a lasting foundation for the future.
