Penner Named Both SAC and NCBWA Southeast Region Player of the Week
Colton Penner helped the Cobras to a 3-1 week by going 10-for-17 at the dish. He hit .588 with a .600 on base percentage and .824 slugging.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Coker University junior first baseman Colton Penner was named both the South Atlantic Conference and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Southeast Region Player of the Week, it was announced by both organizations on Tuesday afternoon.
Penner helped the Cobras to a 3-1 week by going 10-for-17 at the dish. He hit .588 with a .600 on base percentage and and 824 slugging. He had a double, a home run and drove in six while scoring five times.Two of his hits went for extra bases that included his second home run of the season in the Cobras' 13-5 victory at Emory & Henry.
The Wesley Chapel, N.C., native is riding a five-game hitting streak and is currently batting .312 with 34 hits and 20 RBI in 33 games this season.
Penner and the Cobras host USC Aiken on Tuesday at Tom J. New Field at Dave Schmotzer Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6 PM and the game can be seen live on FloSports.
