Bio
Matthew Kemper begins his first season at Coker University, bringing a diverse background in coaching and player development with experience at the Division I, Division II, and professional levels. Most recently, Kemper served as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Saint Joseph’s University during the 2024–25 season, helping the Hawks to a 22–13 record with signature wins over Villanova, Virginia Tech, Texas Tech, and Dayton. While at Saint Joe’s, he worked closely with future and current professionals, including Rasheer Fleming of the Phoenix Suns, Erik Reynolds—the program’s all-time leading scorer—and Xzayvier Brown (Oklahoma).
In the summer of 2024, Kemper expanded his professional development through an NBA off-season internship under renowned trainers Phil Beckner and Vaughn Compton. He assisted in high-level player development sessions with athletes such as Quentin Grimes, Cam Johnson, Wesley Matthews, Jakobe Walter, Moses Moody, Ryan Rollins, Andre Jackson, and Matisse Thybulle.
Prior to joining Saint Joseph’s, Kemper spent the 2023–24 season as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Converse University, where he helped guide the program to an 18–11 record, its first-ever national Top-25 ranking, the highest regional ranking in school history, and program records for overall and conference wins.
A former student-athlete at Muhlenberg College, Kemper competed for four seasons, posting a 46–33 record and serving as team captain his senior year. His combined playing and coaching experience has shaped a well-rounded approach to player development, culture building, and program advancement.
