Men's Golf Finishes 7th at Griffin Invite
The Cobras recorded a +28 team score over three rounds in the 87-player, 14-team field.
Petersburg, Va. - The Coker University men's golf team posted a seventh-place finish at the two-day Griffin Invitational, hosted by St. Leo University at the Country Club of Petersburg on Monday and Tuesday. The Cobras recorded a +28 team score over three rounds in the 87-player, 14-team field.
Junior Thomas Broshears led Coker and placed 23rd. He completed the three rounds five shots over par.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
ROUND 1: Coker opened the tournament with a team score of 10-over par. Junior Thomas Broshears led the Cobras at 1-over, carding birdies on holes 3, 8, 10, and 12. Sophomore Adam Scott turned in a 2-over round highlighted by three birdies, while freshman Harrison LaPointe finished 3-over and freshman Chase Nieshalla shot 4-over. Playing as an individual, sophomore James Bradley impressed with a 2-under round that included three birdies.
ROUND 2: The Cobras bounced back with an impressive 1-over team score. Sophomore Ty O'Brien, who struggled with a 9-over opening round, responded in a big way, improving by 11 strokes to fire a 2-under that featured seven birdies—five of them on the back nine. Broshears continued his steady play with a 1-under round highlighted by four front-nine birdies. Scott and Nieshalla each carded 2-over, while Lapointe and Bradley closed at 4-over.
ROUND 3: Coker wrapped up play at 17-over par for the final round. Scott and Lapointe each posted a 3-over score, while Broshears came in at 5-over and O'Brien at 6-over.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Coker will head to Toccoa, Ga., for the Currahee Collegiate Invitational hosted by Anderson and Erskine at the Currahee Country Club on Oct. 6 and 7.
