3 Cobras Named to the South Atlantic Conference All-Conference Singles Teams
Marcio Silva, Edoardo Pilia, and Marko Pozonec were all named to the South Atlantic Conference Singles Teams.
Rock Hill, S.C.: The South Atlantic Conference released the Men's Tennis All-Conference Teams earlier this afternoon. The Cobras had 3 newcomers named to the teams in Marcio Silva, Edoardo Pilia, and Marko Pozonec.
The Cobras #1 was the first to be named, as he made the SAC 2nd Team All-Conference list. Silva, a Junior out at Dourados, Brazil, took up the 1st singles spot for the Cobras this year. He had a record of 7-4-4 during the Cobras championship season. Silva claimed victories for the Cobras against the numerous nationally ranked teams in #40 Mount Olive and #37 Augusta.
Edoardo Pilia was the next Cobra to be named, as he earned the SAC 3rd Team All-Conference Honors. Pilia, a freshman out of Sardinia, Italy, played primarily 2nd and 3rd doubles for the Cobras. Starting the season at the 3rd singles line, Pilia went 5-2 before moving up to 2nd singles to finish out the season, where he went 4-0. He took wins from #40 Mount Olive, Anderson, and Carson-Newman. Pilia also went undefeated in conference play for the Cobras, going 6-0-5 with ties against #9 Catawba, #20 Wingate, #24 Lincoln Memorial, #27 Tusculum, and #49 Lenoir-Rhyne
The Final Cobra to get recognition this afternoon is the Freshman from Slovenia, Marko Pozonec. Pozonec was on fire to start the year, going undefeated in the month of February, going 6-0-1, including a regionally ranked win over #19 Brendan Jayaprahask of Lander University. In conference play, he went 6-1-4 with getting victoires over UVA-Wise, Anderson, Carson-Newman, Mars Hill, Newberry, and Emory & Henry.

The Cobras will be heading to Sumter, S.C., to take on Lincoln Memorial in the quarterfinals of the South Atlantic Conference Championships on April 16th, with double play set to start at 9:00 AM.
