Popkowski Sets PR as Cobras Compete at Mondo College Invitational
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Coker men's track and field team opened the 2026 indoor season Friday at the Mondo College Invitational at JDL Fast Track, highlighted by a personal-best performance from Jake Popkowski in the middle-distance events.
Popkowski turned in a strong showing in the 800 meters, recording a personal record time of 1:56.58 to lead the Cobras on the day.
Coker also saw multiple solid performances across the sprints and middle-distance races.Keaten Pegues placed 11th overall in the 60 meters with a time of 6.95 before adding a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters, crossing the line in 22.07. Quincy Bryd followed with a 17th-place finish in the 200, posting a time of 22.59, while Wesley Jones delivered a strong effort in the 400 meters with a time of 53.33.
In the distance events, Nathan Allen competed in the 1,000 meters, finishing 18th overall with a time of 2:41.03, gaining valuable experience early in the indoor season.
The Cobras closed out the meet as the 4x400 relay team of Jeffrey Stiles, Keaten Pegues, Quincy Bryd, and Jake Popkowski placed sixth overall with a time of 3:23.97.
