How It Happened:
Game 1: Limestone raced out to a lead, scoring four runs in the top of the first to take the lead. After a few scoreless innings, the Cobras got on the board in the bottom of the fourth. The first run came across when Brigman singles to score Savanah Fowler, then another came when Cheyenne Palmer hit a SAC fly out to center to score Brigman to bring it back to 4-2. The Saints then stretched their lead back to four with two runs in the top of the fifth. However, the Cobras weren't done just yet. After just coming into the game, Lovin put one into the gap in the bottom of the sixth to score Brigman and Andrews in her lone at-bat to bring this one back within two. Just after that, Lacey Hennessy brought in Lovin on an RBI single to bring it within one heading into the seventh. After a great inning in the circle by Lovin to keep it within one, the Cobras were back up to bat in the bottom of the seventh. Arianna Roudabush entered the game as a pinch runner, getting around the base paths and scoring when the opportunity came on a wild pitch to tie this game at 6-6. Then, with the lights shining bright, Carter Freeman lined one into the outfield to score Andrews and walk it off against the Saints!
Game 2: This one started off the same way that Game 1 did, as the Saints scored four in the top of the first to take a 4-0 lead. Those four runs were their only runs of the game, as Bailee Gaskins did a great job to recover and hold them scoreless for the remainder. In the bottom of the second, the Cobras were able to get one back on quite the unconventional play. Right after Limestone thought they had the third out of the inning, the umpire called this one back to the plate as the count was incorrect and the at-bat was still ongoing. Then, the pitcher struck Hennessy out, but the catcher couldn't hold on to strike three and Hennessy reached in a bases-loaded situation as Andrews came across the plate to make it 4-1. With great defense being played by both sides for the rest of this one, the Cobras entered the bottom of the seventh still trailing 4-1. They were able to get one back when Emma Rushing grounded out on a ball that scored Hennessy, but that was all that was scored as Limestone walked away with the win to split with the Cobras.
Up Next:
The Cobras will play their last home doubleheader on Saturday at Saleeby-Stokes against Anderson. The first pitch of Game 1 in that one is scheduled for 1:00 PM ET.
