Coker Improves to 6-0 in SAC Play with Win over Wise

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The 10th-ranked Coker women's basketball team made history Saturday afternoon, defeating visiting UVA Wise 65–49 inside the DeLoach Center. With the victory, the Cobras improved to 6–0 in South Atlantic Conference play, marking the best league start in program history.

With her sixth point of the game, Shawneanna Tillman moved into 10th-place on Coker's all-time scoring list. She then moved into ninth-place two points later and finished the game with 27 points to bring her career total to 1,066.

With her fourth rebound of the game, Kamari Thompson moved into third-place on Coker's career rebounds list. She finished the game with 15 boards to bring her career total to 804 and is just the third player in program history to record 800+ rebounds. .

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The first half featured three ties and three lead changes before Coker seized control for good on a layup by Kamari Thompson that broke a 9-9 tie in the opening quarter. The Cobras then put together a 10-0 run in the second quarter to build a 12-point advantage.
Coker led 17-12 at the end of the first quarter and carried the same five-point margin into halftime, 30-25.
The Cobras outscored Wise 15-9 in the third quarter to extend their lead to 45-34 at the end of the period, then closed the game by outscoring the Cavaliers 20-15 in the final 10 minutes to secure the victory.
