Coker Overpowers Francis Marion to Advance in the NCAA Tournament
Four players scored in double figures as senior guard Kristynn Knight poured in a game-high 16 points to lead the 17th-ranked Coker women’s basketball team, the No. 3 seed in the NCAA Southeast Regional, to an 83-54 victory over sixth-seeded Francis Marion.
HARROGATE, Tenn. – Four players scored in double figures as senior guard Kristynn Knight poured in a game-high 16 points to lead the 17th-ranked Coker women's basketball team, the No. 3 seed in the NCAA Southeast Regional, to an 83-54 victory over sixth-seeded Francis Marion in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament Friday afternoon at Lincoln Memorial's "Tex" Turner Arena.
Knight was highly efficient, knocking down seven of her nine field-goal attempts, while Dasia Ferguson added 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor. Ja'Kea Brunson contributed 11 points, and Shawnteanna Tillman finished with 10 as the Cobras placed four scorers in double figures in the convincing win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Coker put together one of its best halves of basketball all season over the opening 20 minutes, building a commanding 49-25 halftime advantage. The Cobras shot 56.3 percent from the floor in the first half, connected on four three-pointers, and closed the second quarter on a 9-0 run over the final 2:49 after leading 22-18 at the end of the opening quarter.
The Cobras continued to control the game in the third quarter, stretching the margin to 69-37 by the end of the period before resting the starters for most of the fourth quarter in the dominant NCAA Tournament opening-round victory.

Coker advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and will face No. 2 seed and 18th-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne. The game will tipoff at 5PM inside LMU's "Tex" Turner Arena and can be watched on Hudl.
